ADAPTING POLICY TO A NETWORKED GLOBAL ECONOMY AND SOCIETY

We are pleased to inform that Institute Sultan Iskandar, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in collaboration with GlobaleventAsia will be organising a one day seminar on selected issues of global best practice in public policy process with a focus on medium-term issues of design and implementation of strategy in the context of globalization, inclusiveness, collective action at multiple domestic and global jurisdictional levels, and evidence-based policy making. 

 

This program is regarded as specifically customized to issues ad perspectives of current interest to the policy making process inMalaysia. It is therefore not envisaged as a “boiler plate” generic seminar of broader global interest but will be directly related to the goals and policies envisioned through the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) and the Malaysia 2020 Vision of attaining the status of an advanced economy.

 

Our guest speaker, Professor Govind Nair, a dual USA/Australia citizen of Malaysian origin, recently took an early retirement as Lead Economist at the World Bank Group in Washington DC where his twenty-five year career spanned research, project management, and capacity building in multiple thematic areas including capital markets and financial sector reform,  public finance, privatization and private enterprise development, telecommunications policy and utility regulation, information and knowledge economy, and public-private partnerships. As project manager in over twenty worldwide assignments, he has led multi-disciplinary and multi-national teams and has frequently been commended for exceptional client satisfaction and product quality. conferences. He has led numerous policy workshops around the world including Cabinet retreats and multi-stakeholder symposia.
